Since ditching processed kibble and filling up my pups’ food bowls with real meats, vegetables, and other nutrient-rich ingredients, I’ve noticed a few major changes.
Keep reading to find out the top reasons why I’m a huge advocate for feeding fresh!

Results After Switching From Kibble to Ollie
Now let’s take a look at some of the benefits I’ve noticed in my dog, ever since I changed his diet from store-brand kibble to Ollie.
The Stinky Odour Disappeared
I had been struggeling for a while with my dog having a quite annoying smell to him, and had tried pretty much everything in existance.
I showered him almost weekly at some point, using only the highest quality shampoos I could get, and some of which I had previously had a lot of success with, but not this time, the smell simply wouldn’t disappear.
Then I read that other dog owners had switched to a fresh food diet such as Ollie, and within just a few days their issues were gone. And it that point I had already spent quite a bit on pricy premium brands, so I figured I really didn’t have anything to lose.
And while it didn’t take just a handful of days, my dogs stinky odour was gone in two weeks, and it has made hime quite a lot more pleasant to have running around in the house! I wish I had heard about this option months earlier, but at least I did in the eventually.
A Shinier Coat and Healthier Skin
Shortly after swapping kibble for Ollie, I noticed my dogs’ coat was a lot softer and shinier. That’s thanks to the essential fatty acids in their meals. He’s now getting a great combination of omega 3, 6, and 9.
While Monty has never suffered from skin issues (such as severe itchiness, rashes, and dry coats), those fatty acids also help to improve his skin.
A Lot More Energetic
Monty usually sleeps in my bed, under the covers. While I usually wake up no later than 5:30 am to get my day started, Monty used to snooze until noon if he could. He was quite a lazy boy.
But, since switching to fresh food, he’s become an early bird. He can’t wait to get up, fly down the stairs, take a whiz, and then chew down his breakfast.
I shouldn’t be surprised that his fresh food diet has given him so much more energy.
Just consider this: Do you have more energy after eating a garden salad topped with grilled salmon or a plate of fried chicken with some mac and cheese?
Trashy food makes us bloated, sluggish, and fatigued. Our bodies (and by “our” I mean both human and canine) need good nutrition to really thrive.
Better Poops
Dog owners aren’t exactly strangers to good old’ poop talk. If you really want to know how healthy your dog is, pay attention to such things as the frequency, color, texture, and smell of their poop (friendly reminder: don’t sniff it when you’re in the dog park, people will look at you funny…).
When I was feeding kibble, Monty would poop every time I let him outside. Every single time… Since changing to fresh food, though, he poops a lot less. Perhaps twice a day.
And he also used to make really stinky ones (it almost felt like other dogs’ were looking at him and asking what’s wrong with him). But, now, picking up his waste is quite a lot more pleasant.
The reason for that is that many processed dog foods add an unnecessary amount of fiber and cheap fillers, which can lead to digestive problems.
When eating fresh, our dogs’ bodies can absorb the beneficial nutrients and much better and they can properly digest their food.
Healthier Body Weight
While my dog was never obese, he was definitely starting to put on some extra weight, even though we did plenty of exercise.
Since switching to fresh food, I’m able to serve a perfectly portioned out breakfast and dinner and as a result, my dogs’ body maintains his healthy weight.
I’ve previously tried home-cooking and I used a food scale to ensure I was feeding my dogs the right amount. With Ollie, they do that work for me by sending customized bags that each contain exactly the required amount for my dog and his activity level.
Convenient and Healthy
If you are able to regularly cook and do the necessary research, ensuring you’re feeding your dog a balanced diet (one that fits their specific needs), then homemade meals are fantastic!
For me, I started to feel a major time crunch and needed a convenient alternative that was just as healthy. That’s when I turned to Ollie Dog Food.
Formulated by veterinary nutritionists, they cook up human-grade meals in USDA Kitchens right here in the USA.
Food is delivered to your door within days of cooking and you just have to sit back and watch your dog enjoy!
Other Benefits of Feeding Fresh Dog Food
Overall, my dog is a lot happier, healthier, and less at risk of obesity, diabetes, cancer, and many other illnesses.
Once you change to fresh dog food, you can feel comfortable knowing there are no more:
- Guessing games — you know exactly what you’re feeding your dog!
- Red flag preservatives
- Unnecessary additives
- “Meals” or “by-products”
