Attempting to find the best Maltipoo toys to buy when you’re bringing a new puppy home or if you just want to spoil your current dog, can be next to impossible as there is an endless amount of different products these days.
Being a dog owner for more than 20 years, means that I’ve tried an endless amount of different toys, and for every toy that was good, I’ve probably had 10 poor products.
That’s why I decided to create a list of the toys that my dogs’ through the years have had the most pleasure out of, which is also why this list only contains those toys that I and my dogs’ have personally tested and can give my highest recommendations.
The best Maltipoo toys you can get are those that can not only entertain your dog but are also capable of testing their different skills and abilities.
This list includes everything from classic chew toys, to various balls, and finally those toys that are meant to give your dogs’ brain something to work with as well as testing their brawn, as mental exercise is just as important.
Best Maltipoo Toys
1. AWOOF Snuffle Mat
Only describing this product as a basic toy would be quite an understatement, as it’s perhaps also one of the greatest ways to give your dog some great mental training.
The AWOOF Snuffle Mat provides your pup with two different ways to enjoy the mat. One of these options is with the petals open, and by closing the mat into a bowl it will make exploring for the treats even more challenging.
The AWOOF mat is extremely easy to fold by using the drawstring and will allow you to quickly carry it to storage. The mat is also machine washable, making it pretty easy to keep clean. The mat also stars a non-slip bottom to help hold it firmly in place.
The material it’s produced from isn’t the most durable and might tear if your dog is a really heavy chewer. Some dogs have also learned that they can flip the mat allowing for most the treats to fall out.
What we like:
- Can be used in various ways
- Non-slip bottom
- Simple to fold and carry
What we don’t like:
- Not the most enduring material
2. Benebone Real Flavor Wishbone
The Benebone Real Flavor Wishbone is an excellent chew toy for not only most adult dogs but you will also find that they are also ideal for the puppy teething stage.
The Benebone is made of nylon and they’re flavored with either bacon, chicken, or peanut. I’m not really sure how exactly they’ve managed to do that, but I just had to try it myself before giving it to my dog, and it’s not just a sales gimmick, it surprisingly does taste as promised!
The smallest version is primarily for a dog under 30 pounds. So that version would be a suitable fit for a Maltipoo.
What we like:
- Really does taste like bacon, chicken or peanut butter
- Non-toxic
- Great for the teething stage
- Long-lasting
What we don’t like:
- While it’s considered a chew toy it isn’t edible, so make sure your dog doesn’t bite it to bits
3. Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Puzzle Toy
Maltipoo’s are a very intelligent breed, so challenging their mind is just as essential as their physical traits, and this puzzle toy is great for that.
It has enough room to be able to fill in your dogs’ entire dinner, guaranteeing that they will have to really struggle for every single piece. If you use this toy every day, it will really help to stimulate your dogs’ intellect, and can even prevent some destructive habits that are often developed from boredom.
So if you’re on the lookout for some fun and challenging Maltipoo toys, this Puzzle toy should be at the top of your priorities.
What we like:
- Great toy for challenging your dogs’ intellect
- Some dogs are able to find several hours of entertainment with it
- Your pup will really have to work for the food and won’t just get it served in a bowl
What we don’t like:
- Some dogs might tire by the puzzle part in this toy, especially if they’re able to figure it out fast
4. KONG – Classic Dog Toy
As the name says, you won’t get a more classic product than this.
KONG is a very popular and respected brand in the industry. This toy is meant to be filled with your treats of choice if you want to give your dog something to be engaged with for longer periods, and you can also use it as a toy for fetch games.
It actually bounces very well when thrown, so most dogs would be able to get some fun from that. You should also try filling it with something peanut butter and a bit of kibble and watch your dog go crazy with excitement.
What we like:
- Made in the US
- All-natural rubber
- Helps cleaning your dogs’ teeth and soothe their gums
What we don’t like:
- These toys will eventually be destroyed if you have a heavy chewing dog
5. TUFFY Barnyard Bull
This adorable little toy is something that might be a friend for your dog for a very long time. My dog certainly won’t leave his Barnyard Bull alone, so he brings it absolutely everywhere he has the option.
And while it’s not really meant to be a chew toy, it’s still surprisingly durable for a plush toy as it’s made of 7 rows of stitching and 4 layers of material, and it’s ultimately a perfect sleeping companion for any dog.
What we like:
- Just stare at this little thing! It’s so charming!
- Can float in water and it’s machine washable
What we don’t like:
- While it is quite durable, most dogs will probably destroy it eventually, so watch out for when it’s time to replace it
6. West Paw Zogoflex Zisc
We’ve all tried throwing balls to our dogs for hours on end, and that will get boring eventually, so consider mixing it up by using this West Paw Zogoflex Zisc. Without a lot of training, you’ll quickly be able to throw this thing pretty far, and I’m pretty sure you will also find it quite fun.
Try throwing it in a lake and watch your Maltipoo jump into the water in an attempt to retrieve it. The Ziss is also made of a rubbery material that’s easy on your dogs’ mouth, to avoid hurting their teeth.
You can also use this as a great distraction when it’s bathtime for your dog by letting him/her tussle it while you finish the washing.
What we like:

- Made from non-toxic material and free of BPA and phthalates
What we don’t like:
- A chewy dog can eventually destroy the toy
7. Virtually Indestructable Ball
If you have a dog that really likes chewing most stuff to bits, this ball will certainly give it something to work with.
Many buyers have reported back saying that while their dogs are usually able to destroy most items in minutes, this toy has lasted several weeks without nothing more than a few teeth marks in it.
What we like:
- Produced from non-toxic industrial strength natural rubber
What we don’t like:
- Most suitable for larger dogs
- Nothing is completely indestructible, so you’ll still have to watch out for any damages that might happen
8. West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl Puzzle Toy
The Qwizl is a long and round treat toy that has a hole all the way through it.
Fill up this toy with some of your dogs’ favorite treats, and see if your dog is able to figure out how they can get them out from there.
Something me and my dog had a lot of fun with, with this toy, was inserting a bully stick, and then I let my dog go to work. Normally, a bully stick doesn’t last for more than a few minutes, but the first time we did this, it took my dog almost 25 minutes before it was completely gone.
You should primarily use this in a quiet and cozy moment when your dog should relax a bit, as an enthusiastic and overly hungry dog could end up destroying it quickly.
What we like:
- Surprisingly tough
- Fun and stimulating toy
- Non-toxic material
What we don’t like:
- Similar KONG toys are more durable so save this for a bit more of a quiet time
9. Jalousie 5 Pack Dog Squeaky Toys
In this squeaky toy pack, you get 5 different toys for the price of what 2 at your local pet store might cost.
As soon as you notice your dog has to chew into the first toy a bit too much, just discard that one and take out a new one from the pack!
Once again, if you have a really aggressive chewer, these toys probably aren’t the best choice.
Great for tug of war, and certainly much better than a rope toy! (We’ll get to that in a bit!)
What we like:
- US-made in Arizona
- 5 different toys the 1 pack, fitted for medium to larger dogs
What we don’t like:
- As with every squeaky toy, they will break, so make sure you’re careful to avoid end up having the stuffing all over your home
10. SCENEREAL Squeaky Tennis Balls
Most dog owners probably already own a bunch of tennis balls of some sort, but these balls squeaks as a neat little added feature.
This pack consists of 12 balls, which should be more than enough for several hours of fun in the park.
You could even decide to get a ball slinger in addition to the balls to be able to throw them even further to ensure your dog will get a more than proper exercise.
What we like:
- Tennis balls as all dogs’s love but with added squeak
- Produced from non-toxic light rubber
What we don’t like:
- Will probably break after enough use
11. KONG – Goodie Bone
Once again KONG is featured on my list, and that’s due to the simple fact that they produce some of the best Maltipoo toys.
The KONG Goodie Bone also has the option of being filled with some of your Maltipoos’ favorite treats, allowing him/her to have to work a bit for the tasty snack.
The KONG Goodie Bone is also quite durable and is able to withstand a fair bit of heavy chewing before starting to wear down, and you can just throw it in the dishwasher when it starts getting a bit too dirty.
What we like:
- US-made
- Fill it up with your pups’ favorite treats for a good challenge
- Dishwasher safe
What we don’t like:
- While it is durable, it’s not indestructible, so check on it occacionally for any damage
12. Our Pets IQ Treat Ball
Even though this is the final toy on my list of best Maltipoo toys, it doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the best, and that’s the IQ Treat Ball.
You can fill this toy with your dogs’ favorite treats, and it has adjustable difficulty levels that allows you to always challenge your dog, even long after they’ve figured out just how the toy works.
How this toy works is by when your dog starts rolling the ball around, the treats will start to fall out, so this will help encourage active playing.
What we like:
- Adjustable difficulty level
- Great for dogs that are motivated by food
- Take it apart for easy cleaning
What we don’t like:
- Can be a bit noisy on harder floors.
These were the best Maltipoo toys I’ve personally owned over the last few years, but we have to take a look at something you should avoid buying.
Avoid These Maltipoo Toys!
In my opinion, there is something that you should avoid purchasing entirely, even though it’s a toy that has been around for ages and a lot of people have had a lot of enjoyment out of, and that is Rope Toys.
Normally, when a dog tugs and bites on a toy, it will ultimately start to break down into several smaller parts, and this normally isn’t a problem, as all of those small parts such as rubber and plastic, will eventually pass through a dogs’ digestive system.
But with a rope toy, the issue is that they will normally be ripped into longer strands instead, and those getting such a strand is their system that can be extremely harmful to a dog.
Veterinarians refer to these objects as “linear foreign bodies” and they are generally considered to be one of the worst things a dog can swallow. And if your dog finds itself eating such a strand, they might risk having to undergo surgery. And you as the owner don’t stand a chance to notice that there’s an issue with your dog before it might be too late.
I’ve previously owned several different rope toys without any problems, but we did come quite close once which we didn’t really notice until our pup suddenly vomited a long strand from a rope toy onto our floor. After experiencing that, I have never bought another rope toy again.
And while the risk is probably quite minimal, I really don’t feel like I want to take that chance when there are so many options when you looking for Maltipoo toys!
There you have it, my list of the best Maltipoo toys I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning, and a small warning regarding something I would strongly recommend that you never purchase.
