12 Great Labradoodle Toys You Must Try – And What to Avoid!

Trying to find out which Labradoodle toys to buy when getting a new dog, can be quite overwhelming. These days there are millions of possibilities, and only more and more each day.

Over the years I have tried at least a hundred different toys. Some good, some bad.

So I decided to make a list of those my dogs and I have had the most fun out of. Meaning this is a list of items I have all tried myself, and can personally recommend.

The best toys are something that can give your dog both something to have some fun with, but also challenge their skills.

The Best Labradoodle Toys

The list will contain everything from chew toys, different balls, and toys to challenge the dog brain mentally and not just their brawn.

Benebone Real Flavor Wishbone

Starting my list of great Labradoodle toys is a Benebone Wishbone.

These are great chew toys for smaller dogs but they are also perfect for the puppy teething phase.

It’s made of nylon and flavored with either bacon, chicken, or peanut butter.

How they managed to do that is beyond me, but I had to taste it before giving it to my dog, and it’s actually true!

I recommend that you get the large version as that is suitable for dogs up to 70 pounds.

The smaller version is for dogs under 30 pounds. So that would be great for the first months of your Labradoodles life.

  • It’s made with flavors from actual bacon, chicken or peanut butter
  • Excellent for the teething phase
  • Non-toxic
  • Durable

  • This is a chew toy but not an edible one, so watch out that your dog doesn’t chew it into pieces
  • Mostly for younger and smaller dogs

Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Puzzle Toy

Calling this product “just” a toy is an understatement, as it’s also an excellent way to give your dog some great mental training.

And when buying labradoodle toys this is a good idea, as they are known to be quite intelligent, so exercising the mind is equally as important as the body.

There is enough room in this that you can fill in your dogs’ entire dinner, so it will have to work for every single bite.

Using this toy regularly could help to challenge your dogs’ brain, and could, in turn, prevent any destructive behavior caused by boredom.

So if you’re looking for a fun challenging labradoodle toy, the Dog Brick Treat Puzzle should definitely be on your list.

  • Great toy for challenging the intelligence of your dog
  • If the dog is interested in the puzzle, there can be hours of entertainment for it
  • The dog will have to work for its’ food and not just get it served

  • Depending on your dog, they might get bored with the puzzle part of this toy, especially if they figure it out too soon

KONG – Jumbler Ball

KONG is a well-known US-based producer of toys for both dogs and cats, and the Jumbler Ball is another of their great products.

This ball has an interior tennis ball and makes loud squeaks to make playtime a lot of fun.

The built-in handle also makes sure that it is very easy to pick up and shake around for your dog.

And also for you to throw for a great time of fetch!

  • Both fun for brawling for your dog, and as a fetch toy
  • The interior tennis ball also makes it a nice interactive toy
  • Also serves a squeaky toy

  • Not well suited for puppies or very young dogs, as it is quite large and weighs 1.5 pounds

TUFFY Zoo Animal Elephant

Give this cute little thing to your dog, and it will have a friend for a long time.

My dog won’t leave his Elephant, so he brings it everywhere possible.

And even though it’s not intended as a chew toy, it’s still quite durable for a plush toy as it is made of 4 layers of material and 7 rows of stitching.

It makes a perfect sleeping buddy for your dog.

  • Just look at this thing! It’s adorable!
  • It floats in water and is machine washable

  • Although quite durable, a dog will be able to destroy it eventually, so look out when it’s time to discard it
  • It’s not a chew toy

Monster K9 Indestructible Dog Ball

If your dog likes chewing through most stuff, this ball will give it a run for its’ money!

The durability of this is the reason they give a lifetime replacement guarantee, so they trust the durability of their product.

Many users report back saying that their dog is usually able to destroy most toys in a matter of minutes, but this has lasted them weeks without more than some teeth marks in it.

  • Lifetime replacement guarantee
  • Made from Non-toxic industrial strength natural rubber

  • Best for larger dogs
  • Nothing is 100% indestructible, so you still have to keep an eye out for any damages it might have

West Paw Zogoflex Zisc

Throwing a ball can get boring quite fast, so perhaps try mixing it up with the West Paw Zogoflex Zisc.

Without much training you will be able to throw this very far, so not only is it fun for your dog, you will also enjoy it.

Throw it into a lake and watch your labradoodle jump into the water to try and retrieve it.

It’s also made of a material that is easy on a dogs’ mouth, so it won’t hurt the teeth.

Try and bring it with the dog when it’s bathtime, it’s a great distraction while you are washing it.

  • Made in Montana
  • Excellent fetch toy
  • BPA and phthalate-free non-toxic material

  • If you have a chewy dog, it might damage the toy eventually

Jalousie 5 Pack Dog Squeaky Toys

This pack is a pretty great value. For the price, you get 5 different squeaky toys.

When you notice your dog has begun the destruction of the first, just throw that one out, and give it a new one!

If your dog is a really aggressive chewer, these toys are probably not the best choice.

Great for a good tug of war!

  • US made in Arizona
  • 5 toys in 1 pack, made for medium to larger dogs

  • As with all squeaky toys, they will usually break, so watch out before you have the stuffing all over the house

KONG – Goodie Bone

Another great product from KONG, as they are a producer that makes some of the best Labradoodle toys.

The Goodie Bone allows you to fill it with some of your labradoodles’ favorite treats, making it a good mind-occupying challenge.

And if you think it’s starting to get a bit nasty, just throw it in the dishwasher as it is made for that.

It’s also quite durable and can withstand a lot of chewing before showing any signs of wear.

If you have guests over and your dog craves your attention, just stuff this thing with some treats and it will be distracted for hours.

  • Made in the US
  • Stuff it with treats for a good challenge
  • Dishwasher safe

  • Durable, but not indestructible, so check on it once in a while

West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl Puzzle Toy

The Qwizl is a round and long treat toy with a hole all the way through.

Fill the toy with some treats, and your dog can try and see it if can figure out how to get them out from there.

Something we had a lot of fun with, was putting a bully stick into the toy, and letting our dog at it.

Usually, a bully stick lasts perhaps 2 minutes, but this took him 30 minutes before he had eaten it all.

Using this for a quiet cozy moment when your dog needs to relax with a bit of fun is preferable, as an overly eager hungry dog might destroy it quickly.

  • Tough
  • Fun challenging toy
  • Non-toxic material

  • Save this for a quiet time as it is less durable than similar KONG toys

KONG – Classic Dog Toy

As the name suggests this is about as classic a product as you can get.

Another product from KONG as they have a long and proven record in the industry.

You can fill this with the treats of your choice to give your dog something to work with for quite some time, or you can even use it as a fetch toy.

It has a great bounce when thrown around, so your dog could get some fun out of that.

You can also fill it with peanut butter and some kibble which I’m quite sure your labradoodle will love.

  • US Made
  • Helps clean teeth and soothe gums
  • All-natural rubber

  • As with most toys, these can be destroyed if your dog is a heavy chewer

Buy it here.

SCENEREAL Squeaky Tennis Balls

Tennis balls are a pretty standard toy to have, but these are a squeaky version as an added feature.

This pack contains 12 balls, so that should add up to hours of fetching games.

You can even buy a ball slinger and throws these even further for a great exercise, for you and the dog.

  • Tennis balls that squeak
  • Made from Non-toxic light rubber

  • Will most likely eventually break

Our Pets IQ Treat Ball

The final product on my list of recommended Labradoodle toys is the IQ Treat Ball.

This toy can be filled with your dogs’ favorite treats, and the adjustable difficulty level allows you to continue challenging your dog, even after they figure out how it works.

The treats will fall out when the ball is rolled around, so this rewards active playing.

Whenever it gets a bit dirty, just twist it apart and you can easily wash it.

  • Adjustable difficulty level
  • Great for food motivated dogs
  • Comes apart for easy cleaning

  • It might be noisy on hardwood floors.

These were the best Labradoodle toys I’ve ever owned, but now let’s have a look at something you shouldn’t buy.

Don’t Buy These Labradoodle Toys!

Something I would avoid purchasing under any circumstance, even though a lot of people have purchased them and had lots of enjoyment out of, is Rope Toys.

Usually, when your dog pulls and chews on a toy, it will eventually start to break down into smaller pieces.

And usually, this isn’t an issue, as these small parts like plastic or rubber, will pass through the dog’s digestive system sooner or later.

The problem when this happens with a rope toy is that they will usually be ripped into longer strands that can be very harmful to your dog.

Vets refer to these as “linear foreign bodies” and are considered to be pretty much the worst thing your dog can swallow.

If your dog ends up eating such a strand, they could end up having to risk undergoing surgery.

And usually, you as an owner haven’t got a chance to see that there is a problem with your dog before it’s too late.

I have previously owned lots of different rope toys and haven’t had any issues, but we did have a scare once which we didn’t notice until our dog vomited quite a long strand of rope onto the floor.

After that, I’ve never purchased a rope toy again.

Yes, the risk is probably minimal, but I don’t feel like taking a chance when there are so many other great toys for a dog!

So that was a list of my favorite Labradoodle toys that I’ve ever owned and a small note on something I would recommend you never buy.
